What’s on deck for today?
Hike Description: This hike is a true Sardinian classic — a spectacular, rugged route that descends from the high inland plateau of Golgo to the coast via the legendary Cengia Giradili, a narrow ledge trail etched into one of the highest sea cliffs in Europe. You begin on the Golgo Plateau, a wild karst landscape peppered with sinkholes, twisted juniper trees, and old shepherd pens. As you head eastward, the trail gradually narrows and begins to trace the dramatic limestone face of Punta Giradili, a 700-meter cliff that plunges vertically into the Mediterranean below.
The Cengia Giradili is the heart of the hike — a natural balcony clinging to the side of the cliff, offering breathtaking, unobstructed views of the Golfo di Orosei. Below, you’ll see tiny beaches and crashing waves; above, birds of prey circle lazily in the updrafts. This is Sardinia at its most untamed and majestic.
After traversing the cengia (ledge), the trail descends through rocky switchbacks, sparse pine groves, and open vistas toward Pedra Longa, a striking limestone sea stack that marks your endpoint on the coast.
What you’ll see:
Wild highlands: The Golgo Plateau’s solitude and ancient terrain.
Epic cliffside views: The Cengia Giradili offers one of the best panoramic coastal traverses in Europe.
Botanical richness: Mediterranean herbs, wildflowers, and hardy trees grow from cracks in the limestone.
Geological drama: Towering cliffs, exposed ledges, and natural rock formations.
Satisfying decent: Ending at the dramatic Pedra Longa sea pillar, where you can dip your feet in the sea or enjoy a celebratory drink.

Trail Notes:
Distance: ~10 km
Elevations: 750 m decent, 350 m ascent

What’s on deck for today?
Hike Description: This day blends natural wonder with a transition to a new chapter of the journey. You'll leave behind Santa Maria Navarrese and make your way north to Orosei, but not before exploring one of Sardinia’s most jaw-dropping natural sites: the Gorropu Canyon, often called the "Grand Canyon of Europe."
The adventure begins with a transfer inland to the Supramonte Mountains. From there, a scenic trail leads you down into the Codula di Flumineddu valley, a green corridor flanked by limestone cliffs, shaded forests, and the sound of birdsong echoing through the trees.
As the trail deepens, the terrain becomes more dramatic. Towering canyon walls begin to close in, rising as high as 500 meters on either side, forming Gola di Gorropu — a narrow gorge carved over millions of years by water and tectonic forces. The deeper you go, the quieter it gets, with only the rustle of leaves and the occasional drip of water breaking the silence.
Inside the canyon, you can scramble among massive boulders, explore caves, and marvel at the sheer scale of the rock formations. In spring, you might even see rare flowers growing from the canyon walls — this area is a biodiversity hotspot and home to endangered species.
After the canyon exploration, a jeep transfer brings you back up from the valley floor to the main road, where your journey continues with a comfortable ride to Orosei, your base for the next set of coastal adventures.
What make’s this day special:
Sardinia’s Deepest Canyon: A surreal and humbling natural monument.
Diverse ecosystem: From shady oak forests to dramatic rock formations.
Easy logistics: Jeep-assisted exit from the canyon makes it accessible yet adventurous.
Transition to Orosei: From the interior wilderness to a laid-back coastal village.

Hike to Monte Corrasi
Today’s journey takes you into the Supramonte di Oliena, a stark and stunning limestone mountain range in central Sardinia, to summit the island’s second-highest peak: Monte Corrasi (1,463 meters).
The trail begins near the Madonna della Neve church or from Valle Lanaittu, depending on the chosen route. You’ll climb steadily through fragrant forests of holm oak, juniper, and wild olive trees, entering a landscape shaped by wind, water, and time.
As you ascend, the trees give way to rocky highlands and karst formations — weathered cliffs, sinkholes, and lunar-like terrain. The views grow wider with every step: the lush valleys below, the dramatic ridgelines of the Supramonte, and, on clear days, even glimpses of the Golfo di Orosei shimmering on the eastern horizon.
The summit ridge is wide and open, offering 360-degree panoramas that feel truly remote and wild. Along the way, you may spot wild mouflons, griffon vultures, and hardy alpine flowers that cling to the limestone crevice.

Your final day in Sardinia is a quiet, soulful journey through one of the lesser-known stretches of the Gulf of Orosei. The hike to Cala Ziu Santoru offers a blend of solitude, natural beauty, and a satisfying sense of discovery — a hidden cove accessible only by foot or sea, far from the crowds.
The trail begins near Buchi Arta or an access road south of Orosei, gradually entering a lush Mediterranean scrubland filled with juniper, myrtle, wild olive, and fragrant herbs. Birdsong and the rustling of lizards accompany you as the path winds along the edge of limestone cliffs, offering dramatic views of the turquoise sea below.
As you approach the cove, the trail descends through pockets of pine and exposed rock, eventually reaching the secluded beach of Cala Ziu Santoru. This tiny crescent of white pebbles and clear blue water is surrounded by rugged cliffs — wild, silent, and pristine.
There are no buildings, no crowds — only the sound of waves and the soft crunch of stones underfoot. It’s an ideal place to rest, swim, snack, or simply reflect on the week’s adventures.
